Lego Mindstorms NXT (8527) Robots
In just 30 minutes, even a child of ten could have their Lego Mindstorms NXT robot doing incredible things!
There are the
four types of robots that come with your initial pack. However, you do
not need to build any of these before letting your imagination take the lead
and create your own unique robot.
The four different types of robot you can assemble and control are: vehicles, animals, humanoids, and machines.
The Lego Minstorms NXT robot - Humanoid
Because the Lego Mindstorms NXT includes an all-new Intelligent
Brick (box with screen in middle of the robot, left) with a 32-bit microprocessor,
plus 3 Interactive Servo motors, a sound sensor, an ultrasonic visual sensor,
an improved touch sensor, and an improved light sensor - not to mention the
speaker so it can talk - you can create an interactive Humanoid robot.
But
not only that, you can now even command your robot with your mobile phone
via Bluetooth!
The Lego Minstorm NXT robot - Vehicle
The TriBot vehicle might be the first robot you build, as it an easy extention from the QuickStart model you get in the box. You will be amazed at the versatility of the vehicles you create.
The motor servers are the most important element here, and as always, the
LEGO NXT has a few nice suprises. For instance, by using the Move block in
the software to program your motors, your motors will automatically synchronise
so your robot will move in a straight line. You can also set the motors at
different speeds, and they have an in-built rotation sensor, which allows
you to control the robot's movements precisely - to an accuracy of one degree!
Animal
LEGO NXT robot
The software comes complete with a set of instructions for you to build and program a robot that looks much like a scorpion, spider, crab, etc. You can make it come alive, sensing it's environment with ultrosound - much like a bat - and other sensors.
